For those who want to get every last megahertz out of their memory modules,
Nexus has aluminium and copper
heat spreaders,
if you don't have one in your memory.
Quick peek
This is supposed to be more like a preview than a complete test because
there are no two memory modules that would be the same and therefore one can't
draw conclusion from just one test.
The victim was an Apacer PC2700
tested by
Skenegroup (FIN).
The installation is pretty simple and straightforward. On the back side of the
packet there are simple instructions to install the heat spreader. Just remove
protectors from thermal tapes, attach memory module, do the same thing on the other
side, push metallic clips in and you are all set.
If you have only single-sided memory, packet has one extra thermal tape to make
sure installation is firm.

In the picture there is the heat spearder which stays together nicely by it's own
clips and and two metallic fastening clips to make sure the installation holds.
The Victim
On top, Apacer memory module which is about to get a copper coat. If you look carefully,
you can see a little sticker which says "Warranty void if label removed". Just got to
wonder what warranty thinks of this...? The label had to go.
Ready for installation
Both sides of the heat speader and the extra thermal conducting tape.

Apacer has been attached to the other half and the extra thermal tape has been attached
to the other side.

The other side has been attached and fastening clips have been pushed in.
Final words
As I mentioned earlier, installation doesn't really need much skill or tools.
There are 8 different colors
but the Copper King is the only one made of copper.
