Skenegroup received a Nexus Technology Silent Power Supply
from Netherlands. We are going to find out whether or not it really is silent and inspect its
quality and performance. Codegen 350W PSU is being used as a comparison unit.

First impressions
What first caught my eye was Finnish label on side of the box. They clearly have thought markets
on Finland also.
The first impression on the PSU itself was a feel of quality. Structure itself is robust and
PSU weighs significantly more than Codegen. Clearly they haven't used all the cheapest parts.
PSU has one fan on the back side to take care of the air flow.

Technical information
Here are some snippets from technical datasheet provided by the manufacturer. Full specs are
available at the manufacturer's site.
- Real silent power supply, only 22.2 dB(A) in idle and below 26 dB(A) at normal use
- Output over voltage protection and short circuit protection on all output
- Approved by FCC and CE
- MTBF: 100K hours at 25°C
- Temperature range: operating 0°C..+50°C, storage -20°C..+65°C
- Efficiency: 65% min. 70% typical

Connectors
NX-3000 fits excellent into max tower cases due to long wires to motherboard. Wires are
over 50cm long which is more than 20cm more than on Codegen. In addition, NX-3000 has one
extra cord with one MOLEX (CD-ROM/HDD/etc.) and one FDD connector compared to to Codegen. That
means total of five MOLEX and two FDD connectors plus normal connectors to the motherboard.

Test experiences
Test setup
- Asus P4S533
- Intel Pentium 4 1600@2200 MHz
- Mushkin PC3200 256MB & Apacer 2700 256MB
- Leadtek GF4 Ti4200
- 2*HDD, DVD-ROM, network adapter, tv-tuner card
What first caught my attention was the noise from the PSU. Or to be more precise, the lack of it.
A normal silent room background noise is about 30 desibels and according to the manufacturer tests,
on smaller loads noise levels stay even under that. Codegen wasn't noisy but this one is even quieter.
I didn't experience any problems with booting or anything else regarding the PSU.
