Antec Overture

Antec sent us a rather different case from normal. The Overture represents Antec's good looking style and is probably first-rate as well. This time the difference is in the figure. The Overture is back to the past. Old school is trendy right now!:) Who remembers the horizontal cases and 166 mhz computers? I can imagine all you guys yawning :) Well anyway, the newest member of Antec's LifeStyle Series is a very beautiful case. I'm not sure everyone will find it useful, but I'm also confident that Overture will get many happy owners.

First Impressions and Outside the Case

Package

The Overture is sold in a rather nice package. Antec has put an effort in this section for quite a while. I opened the package in a rush and took the case to my arms. "Damn it’s nice" was my first impression. I didn't really have very high hopes with this case, even though I have worked with Antec's cases before.

Front panel

The surface is shiny black. It looks just like the previously reviewed Sonata case. The best word to describe Overture is elegant. The front panel is shiny silver, and the whole case is simple. No extra stuff bothering anywhere.

The front panel has almost everything you need, a couple of USB-connectors, one Firewire and two Audio connecters. The power button is rather big, and it is surrounded with a blue led light. A nice detail. Next to the power button there is a small reset button. Antec has probably tried to make it as simple as possible but I think it could be a bit bigger anyway. The front panel also contains the four outer driver bays (2x 5.25 and 2x 3.5) which are enough for sure.

Back panel

The back panel doesn't have anything unordinary. The 92mm fan is placed in the left corner; the "finger guard" is again "Antec quality". It is scattered enough so that the airflow gets through well with little noise. You can also notice the two finger screws which have made a break through and are today included with almost every case. It makes opening easy. The case has seven PCI slots, which is a rather nice amount. I still wonder why manufacturers don’t paint the whole case black. Why does the back panel and inside have to be boring silver? Well maybe someday in the future...:)
